If you plan on towing a trailer across the vast Australian continent, we know you need the confidence that it’ll go everywhere you want it to.  From the ground up, we engineered the Hybrid Caravan XC16 to take everything in its stride. Balancing weight and strength, the heavy-duty, hot-dipped, galvanised steel, off-road chassis and aluminium body with sandwich panel aluminium walls combine class-leading manufacturing  techniques. The result is a lightweight structure that’s strong enough to cope with outback corrugations, long, rough drives and the worst of Australia’s bush tracks. As a poptop caravan, your 4WD’s fuel economy is maximised thanks to the XC16’s lower towing profile. The single- axle configuration helps perfectly balance the trailer on independent coil spring suspension with twin shock absorbers on each side. Each wheel can be adjusted for toe in or out to tune the towing performance perfectly. The 3500kg ALKO off-road ball hitch securely keeps the  caravan connected to the car, giving it all the flexibility it needs to cope with ruts and rough driving.

Technology

The XC16’s electrical sophistication is  centred on a lithium charging system. Customisable to suit your power needs, the base package features 3 x  100Ah Renogy Lithium batteries, which are maintained by 400W of monocrystalline solar panels on the roof powering the Renogy DC-DC/MPPT Solar regulator which also controls DC charging from your car via an Anderson plug.  To keep a check on power usage there’s a Renogy One monitor with a clear and simple LCD screen.

Simplicity

The farther from home we travel (maybe you’re so far away, your home travels with you), the easier we want life to be. The mentality  underpins the Hybrid Caravan XC16, an off-road caravan that will effortlessly follow you wherever you take it. Almost the moment you get to camp, this cleverly designed camper is ready to relax in. Pop-top by design, the roof lifts and lowers on electric struts that, with the push of a button,  take all the effort out of set up and pack down. And never fear a lack of power prevents you from popping the top; a simple, easily accessible manual override is in place just in case it’s needed. Everything else is ready to go. The XC16s internal kitchen has everything you need to  indulge in the best camping fare. The Dometic threeburner gas stove and stainless steel sink are fitted with fold-down lids so you can expand your preparation space when needed. A 12V range hood with LED lighting keeps the air fresh as you cook, and if you need a quick  snack or to reheat leftovers, an under-bench microwave will get it sorted. With 160L of freshwater capacity across two tanks, there’s little chance you’ll run out. The high-flow 12V pump and gas-electric water heater means you don’t leave any comfort behind. Keeping food fresh  and organised is just as easy. The upright 80-litre, 12V fridge can store enough fresh food for even the longest jaunts away from civilisation,  while the extensive array of cupboards, compartments and lockers around the kitchen means there’s always room for life’s little luxuries.

Comfort

We know you’d probably prefer to eat outside amongst nature, but if the weather’s not playing nicely, you can eat at the comfort of the internal  dinette table end lounge, warmed or cooled by the underbed, reverse cycle air conditioner At night, you’ll fall asleep atop a queen sized innerspring bed that you don’t have to unfold or set up. Reading lights on each side and device-charging ports on each side create a space  you can relax in and ensure your everyday charging routines aren’t disrupted, even if you’re in the middle of nowhere. We want to make sure your phone has always got enough charge so you don’t miss a photo opportunity or important notification. And never fear that you’ll have to really rough it – the Hybrid Caravan XC16 has its own private ensuite that’s fitted with a hot shower, exhaust fan and Thetford cassette toilet. Paired with the 80L grey water tank, you can camp without a trace everywhere you go.

Versatility

Because we know that no two camping trips look the same, we’ve designed every aspect of the Hybrid Caravan XC16 to enhance your travels, anywhere they take you. Outdoor living is at the forefront of this, and the external kitchen gives you the flexibility to enjoy the freedom of Australia’s best  campsites. Slide out the sink and preparation area under the awning, connect your favourite barbeque and enjoy meals in nature. Store a second fridge in the built-in compartment and slide that’ll suit most 80 to 90L chest fridges on the market. Roll out the awning, and you’ve got an expansive space to entertain or relax. And no matter how far you travel, you’ll never run out of room for everything you need.  Outside, the XC16 has large storage boxes for gas bottles and extra jerry cans on the drawbar. A large storage compartment on the driver’s  side is perfect for barbeques, extra canvas and other large items. Inside, there’s extensive cabinetry so you can keep all your possessions  safe, secure and organised. And, of course, we can work with you to customise certain aspects of the caravan to suit your needs. As well as upgrades to the electrical system, the XC16 can be fitted with optional extras that’ll get you further off-road for much longer. That is, after all, the adventure we’re all craving.
